Oh! Ha ha!
I do about 90 wpm.
I get it now.

When I used to type a lot I did 225 keys a minute (accurate) and I was faster than an American friend who counted by words and she said she could do 60 odd words a minute.
So, there's something weird about counting words a minute. It just doesn't make sense.
Barbara Blackburn is the fastest typist in the world, according to The Guinness Book of World Records. Using the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard (From wikipedia). So, she's not even using a normal keyboard! DUH...
The only site I can find on how fast a secretary has to be able to type suggests 130 keys a minute.

This page will give you a speed, you can actually type anything you like... but they give you something to follow.

so 300keys per minute + 5 mistakes = 60wpm.
300keys per minute + 6 mistakes = 55wpm.
And backspace key or erase doesn't count as a keystroke. Not that we could use that, we trained on old typewriters.

well, as I think more about it, her average speed 150*5/1min gives a score of 750, which would be in the top 5. so maybe she's pretty fast after all. 🙂
