It was gay, I was excited to drive the Porsche but it was an auto, took most of the fun away from it. The car was still awesome, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't feel like a Porsche.
I drove a BMW and an Escalade and they both have an Auto/Standard feature where you tell it to drive like an auto, or to drive like a stick with no clutch. But any automatic can be forced to 'act' like a stick to some extent.

Yeah, most of the cars I drive have the auto/stick setting - but it's still crap.

What is the difference between a Porsche and a Volkswagen? Both were designed by Porsche. He must have had little feet. I think the pedals are too close together. Those nutty Germans. I like the paint they use. Holds up real well. I would much rather have a Corvette or a Dodge Viper.

They all have "get go" but the Porsche was crazy compared to VW or a little MG. The 911 had 3 gears, and you drove around town in first, and bumped up to second for fast stretches. You didn't touch 3rd till you were ready to do 50 or 60 mph. That freaked me out.
I've heard the Volvo turbo station wagons were faster off the line than the 911 on the street at the time, but I guess at top end and handling they couldn't match.
One of my favorite drives was me in a 1982 or so BMW M3 Sport stick driving off a stop sign. I'm driving and I look over and there is a cop in a yard talking with a home owner or something. I'm driving normal, but this car sounds like I'm trying to break Earth's gravitational pull.
I juice that bad boy to 25 mph or so and shift to second and it sounds like Indy 500. He almost ripped his head off his shoulders turning to see who is tearing up the street at 90 mph. I'm doing about 30 looking right at him and give a little wave. He pretty much watched me tear up the road at 30 and promptly went back to his conversation like nothing happened.

I have actually only driven a Porsche once and I admit they will move and handles real well but I am pretty large and I thought I never was going to be able to pry myself out of it once I squeezed into it. Man that thing set so low to the ground I thought I was going to bottom out. It's not something I would want to drive every day myself.
