I NEED NEW MUSIC!

Please recommend some bands to me, along with a reason for your recommendation. Don't bother with the obvious, I already have over 11 Frank Zappa albums.

Led Zeppelin, Queen, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Metallica,...

And last, but certainly not least...

Rush.

Reason? Cause they are good.

Put in a song you like and it'll play songs similar to it. I've found some awesome bands I'd never heard of before that play things I like.

EDIT: It'll work for free for 10 hours or until you close the window after that it costs per year.

Hi Hopscotch
Take a listen to Dzem from Katowice, Poland. A remarkable band of blues/rock style, they have been going for years. I first heard them in Rzeszow,Poland in the 1980s and now have some 14 albums. They are still going strong and attract audiences of all ages at concerts, I have to say, don't be put off, if they sang in English they would be way up there. But if the musics good, the feeling it gives more than compensates for the foreign lyrics. If you find it hard to locate any albums, send me a pm, I can burn one or two for you and send them.
cheers
Rog

You could try The Gun Club...Jeffrey Lee Pierce sings like a New York Doll from LA, Kid Congo Powers contributes guitar to some albums, and the songs have the endearingly desperate, soul-searching quality commonly associated with fallen angels. Favourite album: The Las Vegas Story.

You might like Nikki Sudden...Texan singer who plays mean multi-layered outlaw guitar...did a good collaboration with Rowland S. Howard amongst other things.

(Powerful rhythm & interesting guitar work are the reasons I think you might like these two artists. Otherwise I'd say, check out Antony & The Johnsons 🙂 )

Eek! Hopscotch, trust me you will not like these.

If you haven't yet done so, get 'Feels' by the Animal Collective, reccommended by myself and Darvlay. Also:

The Arcade Fire
The Dead 60s
The Kills (NOT The Killers, I had a 45 minute discussion with some imbecile the other day only to find that he was talking about the killers...)
The Superstar Allstars (Just for Dub Side of the Moon)
Clap your Hands Say Yeah
Sigur Ros
Giant Drag (Not really sure about this, but it might interest you)

Yeah, I've seen them in concert, they're really good. And T-Love and Various Manx (with Lipnicka)...

The new Arctic Monkeys album is excellent!

Would also recommend:

Sublime,
System of a Down
The Kills (I know who they are, Liam!)
Bowling For Soup
Death In Vegas
The Distillers
Hard-Fi

Two favourite "bands" at the mo: Kings of Leon and The White Stripes

And if you want something totally off the wall try Devendra Banhart - Nino Rojo is a good place to start!

If you like him you (don't know about hopscotch) should try Sufjan Stevens, Akron, & The Angels of Light.

That and the limited skips per hour are to do with getting licenses to play the songs.
