Buy a used car between $5,000 and $9,000 what would you buy?
Because I might, if I find something worth buying.
Then again, I hate cars. My ideal car is a subway pass.

I could get a 15-20 year old Corvette though, I think I'd enjoy that.
Originally posted by rbmorrisThat advice about the BMW seems good, I've driven a whole bunch of 10-15 year old BMW's and they're total crap.

Originally posted by reinfeldHm, I've driven a few Volvos, the S80 is pretty cool, but I'm not sure how much I'd trust the reliability of a used Swedish car. I've also been warned against the quality of Saab's which makes me doubt Volvos. But if you say 30 years and you've always been happy maybe I should look. How long do you usually drive them before you trade them in, and have you had any major problems with any of them?
i have purchased used volvo cars for 30 years...always been happy..

They perpetually get 250,000 miles when cared for, you can get one with 100K miles on it, gets great gas mileage, doesn't look like a piece of crap (the Civic is kind of sporty). I speak from experience. I bought my wife a Pilot when they first came out in 2003. Still going strong at 100K miles right now. Bought my son a used 4 year old Civic that he drove another 6 years until he traded it in for a new Civic. Bought my eldest daughter a used 3 year old Civic that she is still driving 6 years later. Bought my second daughter a used 2 year old Civic and she is still driving it two years later. I am about to buy my youngest daughter a car. Guess what she is going to get? I am telling you, they hold up, the repairs have been minimal, they are just well built automobiles. And, in case you are wondering, I don't sell cars and I don't work for Honda.

Originally posted by shortcircuitThat'd be a good choice, except that my parents have an Accord and a Civic - and guess what they'll probably trade those in for (again...).
