Drewnogal, you've been asked numerous times [by gb] to try to be nice to other people. Not a ding dang thing has worked.
So, after midnight tomorrow evening he's not coming back to this particular internet forum until April Fools Day, 2013.

I will never go back to one of these:

After using one of these:

I'll start with 2 off the top of my head:

Leather seats (car)
PANDORA
Good choices!

I'd add:

AUX jack (for your iPod) on your car stereo
Blu-ray DVDs

No. That's me in a car in Australia, where batik shirts are maybe OK for parties and events at the Indonesian consular office but not much else. That is an AUS$8.99 shirt from Target. Not nearly as multipurpose as batik. 🙂

Although I am not saying that "I'll Never Go Back" to Australia.

A few things, together with the year I discovered them:

2009: OSX. No more crashing Windows!
2009: LaTeX (for typesetting mathematical documents). Good-bye MathType & Word!
2010: 6-speed manual transmission car with high horsepower. No more boring automatic slugs!
2010: iPod. Finally done hauling around dozens of CDs.
2011: TiKz & PGF (packages associated with LaTeX) for making mathematical diagrams. Screw Adobe Illustrator.
2012: Stevia sweetener in liquid form. Replaces Splenda powder.
2012: Melatonin as a sleep aid.
2012: Retina displays. Older displays now look like pixellated crap.

and now for my contributions...

as ms hakima has already pointed out, cold brewed coffee is so far superior to any other type of coffee brewing system, that when i am forced by circumstances to drink "gas station coffee", it makes my tongue curl...

But it's okay, no problem, though I would ask you to describe what you mean by magic moment. You added the partner thing so it almost sounds like you are talking about orgasm. That would be a perfectly legitimate submission in this thread, but, since arguably everyone ...[text shortened]... ut that, it's not exactly something that should be expected to help us improve our lives with.
I don't think it is worthwhile to argue whether orgasms improve life more than leather car seats and Pandora. I believe my discovery improved my life, you believe yours improved yours. Your choices do have the distinction of being improvements that fewer people discover.

I just invested in an SSD for my workstation. I suspect I'll never buy another mechanical hard disk again.

An (IO bound) job which would previously take 16 hours now takes 1.5.

Consider me converted.
