So I do hope someone does the same to me if I'm ever unwillingly racist. It would give me a chance to re-evaluate my actions.
You believe it justified to punish someone for being "unwillingly racist"?

If the punishment is a "slap on the wrist", then of course I believe that.

Why should someone be punished at all for something they did "unwillingly"? What a strange notion!

Because their unwillingness was brought about by their unawareness.

Edit 2: Ok, my mistake. I was under the impression 'unwillingly' could also mean 'without realizing it'. Adjust accordingly.

Surely abject stupidity is punishment enough?

"Duh" is certainly an appropriate word to use in this post but I think it should come at the beginning.

Being "unaware racist" is also insufficient to warrant punishment.

According to you, not to me. A slap in the wrist is a good 'punishment' for that.

I don't think Kirk should have been banned.

Because it's a reminder to be more aware.

Do you need more spelling out for you?
