I was referring to your second paragraph. The US doesn't need your condescending approval anyway.

oh please. that's the lame excuse of a retort you managed to scrape together in two days?

and some nerve you have whining about 'me attacking you', when it was YOU who attacked ME out of the blue, with no prior contact with me whatsoever? even when I let the first time slip as you were new here? you were asking for it, got kicked in the face, and now you're here crying about it with a bloody nose.

Yes, this much is evident from the rude replies to my questions.

I have always had tremendous difficulty in understanding patriotism or any merits thereof and only seek to learn from individuals like smw6869 but they always launch into this bizarre defensive mode.

Oh well.

If the US doesn't need wormwood's approval then why are you so up in arms about any perceived disapproval?

read the post again, it clearly pointed out there are both great and not so great people in america. I never even mentioned you. the ONLY reason you're so pissed off, is that you KNOW you are part of the problem, and not part of the solution.
Yo worm, i never said you mentioned me. Again, this goes to reading comprehension. Well sucka, i voted for Obama, so maybe i am part of the problem. I voted for Obama. He wants to get are troops out of harms way and lessen the US militaries influence around the world. THAT'S WHY I VOTED FOR OBAMA. Excuuuuuuuuse me for being such a knuckle head!

I never mentioned you IN THE ORIGINAL POST you've been so pissed off about.

and good for you for voting for obama. with a perfectly good reason of getting the troops home, I have nothing against that. which makes me all the more confused about why you're on my case here. clearly you've missunderstood something about it?

As I wrote above, I wish to understand the mentality of someone who loves their country. For me it's confusing. One doesn't choose to be born in a country yet one could choose to love that country. One cannot choose to be born a man but one could be chauvinistic. One cannot choose their birth race yet one could take pride in it. These are all parallels in things beyond your control that you choose to love and in the end only lead to prejudice.

How is being patriotic different from being classist, racist, sexist, etc?

Maybe you should try not asking rude, leading questions. Now, i gave you my answer, but you're not satisfied with it. what more do you want? Am i required to answer every question you propose ? Get a life ! Take it ,or leave it. Your inability to understand patriotism is of no concern to me. Take it to debates. I'm sure you'll get better results. By the way, over zealous patriotism bugs the hail out of me.
Done deal. Over and OUT!
