and good for you for voting for obama. with a perfectly good reason of getting the troops home, I have nothing against that. which makes me all the more confused about why you're on my case here. clearly you've missunderstood something about it?

Maybe you should try not asking rude, leading questions. Now, i gave you my answer, but you're not satisfied with it. what more do you want? Am i required to answer every question you propose ? Get a life ! Take it ,or leave it. Your inability to understand patriotism is of no concern to me. Take it to debates. I'm sure you'll get better results. By the way, over zealous patriotism bugs the hail out of me.
Done deal. Over and OUT!

This was fun.

I reread your post and i still see a sweeping negative generalization of United Statesers. It's in the second paragraph.

It's United States-ians 😕

I do think "American," although not correct, is still in usage, or did that fight already happen? I mean I kinda have a life and don't want to read this whole thread. 😞

so based on that you're not a nazi, based on voting for obama not a right winger, based on vietnamese wife not a racist... seems like we agree on all of those questions. what's the problem again? religion? -I'm not against religion, I'm just against the nutters. you know, violent people bombing abortion clinics, bashing gay people, and generally harassing people for not believing in the same specific thing they do. which makes them nuts. I have nothing against people believing in whatever they like, for as long as it's not hurting others or themselves.

that said, I WILL always be ridiculing scientology and other cults for calling themselves a religion. that all falls into the category of 'hurting themselves'.

American culture, mmm, interesting, i suppose the country is just so huge and diverse that it is more of a melting pot of different flavours. obviously there are regional differences, like between north and south, east and west, then again, is it the state that has a direct bearing on ones cultural heritage? If one is born in Texas does one display a certain affinity with that state while remaining American in a broader sense. I guess its also determined by race as well.

If you just had coughed up the doe and paid us your taxes, my goodness we spent a fortune trying to protect you, you would have eventually got representation, but no, you had to fight us for it, well, its your own fault America has lost its way, come back to us, we will make you a colony once again, instil in you European values, you shall develop a social conscience, develop taste and refinement, understand and appreciate modern art, think of the possibilities. My goodness the Russkies have got paintings and chandeliers in the subway! if you guys went down there you would think that you were tripping!

I believe we started calling ourselves Americans before the revolution, when there were no United States-ians. And i'll continue to believe this even if proven wrong. Would it be OK, please, if we say The United States of America ? Would that be OK ?

yes, Edward the II pioneered it, its called a red hot poker.

On the night of 11 October while lying on a bed [the king] was suddenly seized and, while a great mattress... weighed him down and suffocated him, a plumber's iron, heated intensely hot, was introduced through a tube into his anus so that it burned the inner portions beyond the intestines. — Thomas de la Moore.

works every time.

I've already had that procedure done. I was looking for something more painful.
