I think if you put in a US zip code you should be fine. I did and I'm in the UK and Pandora works fine for me too

It detects that I am in Norway before I put in anything, so I don't get a chance to put in a US zip code.

Don't know about itunes but I listen to KEXP.org every day. They have an uncompressed stream @1,4Mb/s.
