I dunno. Am I the only one here who sees being a "thread killer" as a bad thing?

People come onto the site all the time, and get into threads, and say the most outrageous crap, literally stopping the entire conversation in its tracks. And somehow this is a good thing? Forums like this one depend on the unmitigated flow of information and opinion, unhampered by idiots, and their show-stopping "look-at-me, look-at-me" moments. I say either participate in the forum community, or get out, and stop trying to be a door-stopping roadblock to communication.

Look, I do understand that it's just "another forum game". But to go into long dead (and by "dead", I mean long-forgotten, not posted in for more than 45 days) threads and posting in them just to get the last post just seems bad forum behavior to me. This site is not the first forum experience for me, and most forum sites on the internet will warn you and eventually give you a ban, temporary or otherwise, for posting in long-dead threads (this is called "necro-posting" ). Most sites never make a thread unable to be posted in, they just rely on people not to post after, say, 60 days or so. 60 days is usually the dividing line between posting in an old thread and "necro-posting". On other sites, I've seen people post in threads that are over a year old, and those people usually get roundly criticized for doing so. And, even on these sites, I do not routinely see people trolling through the threads looking for 45-day-old threads to post in, like I see here.

Just needed to finally get this off my chest.

Until Ponderable started collecting these stats I'd never won anything in my life.
Thanks to him I got my self-esteem back.
It's turned my life around.

September will (probably) see a rise again, as will October.

On the long run August is always a slow month

Summer is usually quiet but I can't remember so few threads, usually the winner has at least 5 or 6?

Is this thread also a candidate for murder? 😀
