in sports relayed facts, in which I have an interest, I would question your '999/1000' correct statement. Do you have proof of your 99.9% figure?

and, before you ask, if I get a fact from wiki, I ALWAYS cross reference it. It is wrong more than 1 in 1000 times

I am not adept in Spanish. My reading of Sr. Marquez's great work is an attempt to improve my knowledge of the language. Thank you for your help in my understanding of the punctuation.

However...

Marquez won the Nobel prize for his work which may or may not include the use of the tilde...

Forgive me for saying so, but while a plethora of intelligent minds frequent this site, I hardly recognize a Nobel aspirant among any of us. I would suggest that the use or misuse of punctuation be overlooked here.

This place is supposed to be fun!

"99.9%" is a figure of speech, usually not meant to be taken literally. Here's a link to the wikipedia article on comparitive studies of its reliabilty.

Of course, I actually hastily constructed the tilde article using my Farage 4000 bull generator, but...shhhhhh!

erm...by who??

you quote that on here in a debate (is that what WE'RE having??)

and it should be correct or substantiated somewhere. Or what's the point??

Ok 100% of wiki is wrong...not meant to be taken literally..

great debate

At my university, referencing Wikipedia earns students a failing grade...professors a cancellation of tenure, simply because it is considered laziness. When encountering Wikipedia, one must then go to the original source. It is bothersome.

However, among friends, I see no reason to allow a wide berth of Wikipedia referencing and improper punctuation usage.

That is...if we are all among friends...

Like I explained earlier, the punctuation comments were commentary. I didn't mean (much) offense until Mr preview got all uppity. They were also posted a long time ago. St dominics preview never fails to mention them at length whenever our paths cross. I really don't know why—I find it boring and assume others do too. Honestly, I don't care what punctuation people use, but in practice unfortunate misunderstandings occur when people (including me) don't communicate clearly.

in my quiz setting world, using wiki is fine, but we know facts need to be cross referenced

I would guess a 90% or so accuracy...it posts what it is told (or tilde!)
