Today would need to be the 1st January for that to be true.

The cigarette vending machine owners in Jakarta were baffled. Pools of water had been appearing under their empty machines. What had happened?

The logician points to one of the roads and says to the native, "If I were to ask if this road leads to the village, would you say 'Yes'?" The native is forced to give the right answer, even if he is a liar! If the road does lead to the village, the liar would say,"No" to the direct question; but as the question is put, he lies and says he would reply, "Yes." Thus the logician can be certain that the road does lead to the village, whether the respondent is a truth-teller or a liar. On the other hand, if the road actually does not go to the village, the liar is forced in the same way to say "No"
Is everyone in this forum a cut and paster? 😉

Did you use Google to find the solution?
Thing is though, one must have the truth/lie detector mechanism installed by the original equipment manufacturer in order to tell which is which. But even then one must choose which to believe.

It doesn't matter, Grampy Bobby does so much of it, and so often, that it seems to be on everyone's behalf! 😛
