Ok Folks we certainly don't have 20 yet so what's up?
For those of you who may be reading this and have no idea what is going on, Shogunate is a strategic diplomacy game, it is played using a program called diploware which can be downloaded here :-
http://lordsofconquest.com/shogun/
Basically you are commander of an area on a map, you will recieve gold each turn based on your holdings and other factors. This can be spent on armies, ships or fortifications. An example turnfile will be downloaded with the diploware to give you an idea of what each turn will entail. There is also an online rule book which contains handy hints for beginners here :-
http://www.lordsofconquest.com/shogun/rulebook.htm#i
All (or at least most) of the diplomacy would be done by email or PM, you decide who to ally or fight with.
The game is completely free to play, however if you wish to pay for your turns(US$2.29) you will be allowed extra priveleges which are explained here :-
http://www.lordsofconquest.com/shogun/rulebook.htm#e20
I am pretty sure that anyone wanting to play their first game of this type would enjoy this particular map as it is quite simple.
You are expected to submit 1 turn per week (deadline 1amGMT Thursdays) The games would typically last at least 20 turns. Once you are up and running and confident with the diploware your orders should take no more than 15 minutes, it is the diplomacy which takes the time😉.
Think of this as a complicated game of roleplay risk, set in feudal japan.... and bloody well sign up as I am a bloodthirsty bastard and I want to get this game started as soon as possible!

Since there were only two winners, that = LOSER.

BTW nobody's answered my question: what happened to Hokosawa and the Asakura last time? Were they turned on or did they simply turn their provinces over to the winners?
I think that this information might be relevant when trying to recruit new players, don't you?
Originally posted by no1marauderI am certainly going to try to win this time, I may even be a royal, I believe that asakura went bot, the same may be true for hosokawa but I don't know, Looking at my last couple of turns there was no movement from either. I was given the oppurtunity to join the victory claim but it would have taken me 2 or 3 more turns to amass the other 100 odd points I needed, we decided to start another game instead. Not bad for my first real game, i'm not counting the dragonlords debacle as it took me about 10 turns to realise i needed to annex my provinces🙁

Originally posted by cadwahYou didn't need anything more to be part of the victory claim; a Major and 2 Minor claim requires the three to have a TOTAL of 1550 Gold Province Value - there is no minimum for a member, so long as the coalition meets the overall requirements. "2) A coalition declaring victory may have no more than 3 members. The coalition must control provinces worth 650 gold, plus 450 gold for each Minor Partner in the coalition (of course, there must be at least 1 Major Parnter in the coalition). A sole victory would require 650 gold, 1 Major and 1 Minor would require 650+450=1100 gold, and 1 Major and 2 Minors would require 650+450+450=1550 Gold."
Originally posted by Bosse de Nage.... the only thing that matters is the gold value controlled by that coalition (listed for each country in the last message of your Messages screen, in your turnfile). Annexation does not matter, just the total gold of territories controlled.

AND
A victory claim is based on the gold value of all provinces owned by the coalition.
Originally posted by no1marauderI'll check it out with the GM. If there was a mistake, cadwah, my apologies.

Ok so we have :-
1. treetalk
2. athousandyoung
3. cadwah
4. Bosse de Nage
5. nook7
6. Halitose
Any more takers, will we see the return of No1Samurai? Will we witness cadwah's bravado turn itself inside out when he gets beat up on by a n00b? Will we see a bit more backstabbing and betrayal?
Who will end up Shogun this time?
It could be you!
