some women make a career of getting married and divorced. much more profitable than working for a living. haven't you ever met any very prosperous guys who has had their premarriage purchased real estate and business profits leveraged from their grasp by the divorce courts. It all happens so close to the day after the compusory togetherness limit expires that it is far beyond a joke?

well the gold digger can't get married today , divorced tomorrow and then turn around and stick the guy for 60% of all his worldly possesions. mostly there is a specified time of togetherness before she can set the hounds on him and then walk away with the goodies and a large smirk.

Well, my experience with using drugs is that you can't play chess for $hit when high. Not only that, but have you ever noticed that people who smoke pot every day have no interests! No, none other than getting high again.

People who use drugs are losers.
So, you smoke pot?

Don't call me a loser with such a grandiose stereotyping sweep of your arm. I smoke pot almost every day, I do not revel in getting high to such an extent that I have no interests: I have a full time job, I play in a band, I am currently doing a philosophy degree and expecting my first child, I play chess and debate here, I do guitar lessons on Monday evenings and I am a fan of art, literature and music. At weekends I write poetry/prose and play cricket.

Every time I see a post of yours it contains some ridiculous, unfounded drivel or call out for the behaviour of someone. I would suggest that you take some lessons in how to look at yourself before bandying around your assumptions, assumptions based on a perceptionally limited view of the world.

You should be ashamed of yourself.
Well I was at the start of the season, with 2 and 5 in my first innings. However, my 51 not out and two run outs yesterday have made me somewhat proud 😛

But there are lots of men who put adds up for such things trying to get into Canada. Mostly from Turkey. Go figure.

I would gladly accept a marriage of convienience in order to get out of here and live somewhere warm and tropical. 😀
It's gonna have to be another compliment, mokko. Not as if I haven't made my point yet...

I'm moving to Central Asia in September if that's tropical enough for you.

Overwhelmingly so, yes.

There are some creative intelligent people using drugs but they tend to cease to be intelligent and creative as a result, when we no longer know or care about them.

I have two friends who did that. a turkish girl and a finnish guy. -they met on a vacation in turkey, and decided to get married so she could get out of the country.

so, after wedding, the girl moved into finland, and they started living as roommates. after about three years, they started dating, and have been a regular married couple since then. about s ...[text shortened]... I think. and very happy.

sometimes things don't happen in the order you thought they would.
Nice story, would never knock something like this, but the thought of solicitor's fees, loss of pension rights, right to remarry in church, part of my inheritance would go, disruption and inconvenience etc etc have rather put me off.

First of all, no they don't, creativity can be seen to be enhanced by drugs. You only have to look at the vast majority of great music and art to see a correlation. Secondly, what does "when we no longer know or care about them" mean?

True, and as a fan of the Incredible Stringband I do take your point, and to be honest I don't think I can elaborate on what I said. But it's like quoting the 90 year old uncle who smokes as a way of saying smoking isn't harmless, when we all know it is. There are always exceptions, some very definite exceptions.

But I think back to university and of some of the popular ones who were into everything, and know where some of them are now.

Taking drugs may be a sufficient condition to allow losership, but it is not a necessary one.
