Athough, I do like GotChalk's idea about having separate categories listed. Maybe one for total gold value, one for annexed gold value, land unit total strength (CS/HP) and sea unit total strength.

I've just discovered a fascinating pasttime for people playing MD or NE. Google Earth and look at the terrain in the regions you're playing in. Imagine what the troops are experiencing in game climbing over little hills and through woods. Think of what the Adriatic looks like, for instance, and what the naval fights would have actually been like. Go see why Byzantium blocks access to the entire Black Sea. See how far it really is across the English Channel, etc.

I hope the enemies of Italy are happy! Your plans to take over
Italy have finally killed off the Pope in Rome! He talked of a
bloody battle to come in Tuscany, several armies will battle and
both sides will take heavy loses. Again, the dark one will stand
back and watch from afar, keeping his dirty hands clean of
blood. He also said the battles will continue well beyond the
last man standing. Not sure what that means, but he spilled
his red wine... and DIED right there!
The proud unified Italy's days are over, as evil pours into Italy
