Accusations were followed by threats; the ship of state changed course accordingly. That's all.
Lies. You had already agreed to peace with the Heathers and proceeded to do everything you had agreed. Even such a liar as you must choke to suggest that Italy threatened you.

I should thank the King of Aragon for allowing the Bavarian passage through Alsace; if he hadn't done so I would never have had the opportunity to destroy the 10 Archers that KW blundered against the Army of Venice in a Level 7 Fort.
Anything to keep you amused, Doge. Really, what will we do without you?

I expected to open this turnfile and have no troops and maybe a few ships left, but my enemies continue to be frustratingly incompetent and cowardly executioners. I knew the Horde would strike Angora and I didn't have enough to hold it, but I'm sick of retreating. I still find it hard to believe that the Bavarian didn't attack into Rhaetia with his main army and Polish stooges; I would have been wiped out rather easily. Now I guess it's up to you.

Thanks for the hat! Now I am a very hatty, er, happy whale.

Those Polish stooges are up to something, I'll warrant. Of course the Duke of Bavaria is very cautious--who wouldn't be, faced with Garibaldi with his back to the wall? It would be strange if he started rushing now.

Maybe they just enjoy seeing you die slowly.

The dying that turn was largely reserved for the Bavarian Robin Hoods who found (to their brief sorrow) that it's a lot easier to shoot arrows FROM a fort than AT a fort.

EDIT: The hat looks dumb.

Actually, some really aggressive noises were coming my way. No doubt I overreacted in response to your overreaction; but what's done cannot be undone. (Troubadour, how are you getting on with that tribute to the Doge, republican of truth and valour?)

I'm getting tired of writing Alamo-type proclamations; how many times can I say "we go forth to the final battle against overwhelming odds" before I lose credibility?

I think you are wrong. Shooting arrows at a fort is easy. Doing any damage to the enemy with it and surviving are the difficult parts.

EDIT: :'(

True. The script calls for a final show-down. But where shall it be?

Allow me to explain.

I thought you would make the choice of defending your own province rather than that of your ally. I thought that Savoy would be a much better place from which you could defend and take out more of my troops. I mean, a level 7 fort vs a level 12 citadel? As I expected you to make a logical move (as did my allies) I moved 10 archers into Rhaetia since I thought you would be vacating it. There was no "Robin hood" intent with their action. You surprised me by making an illogical choice.....nothing more.

The assault on Bourbon by Aragon and Castile qualifies as a triumph by Spanish standards: the defences were overwhelmed despite the incompetence of the artillery drunks. El Gato's foot gave their lives valiantly, as infantrymen should, while his cavalry massacred the defenders in conjunction with the swashbuckling cavaliers of Rodrigo the Gloomy.
