Aragon helped snatch Cyprus from the Horde; a minor skirmish, but we got the timing right, which was good. Aragon's fleet assisted Morocco's in demolishing Sicily's; the markets are awash with driftwood souvenirs stamped "Made in Calabria".

It looks like somebody took care of the high-stepping Lippizaner Cavaliers. The Emperor will go down fighting with his Guards. Looking forward to that!

No further comments--except that the Horde's northern front looks like a badly made quilt.

Edit--Sicily chose the wrong side; Norway also chose the wrong side. I hope you people will now understand that my tears were genuine. No more time for tears now!

I must take a moment to praise King James, who, despite our recently diverging viewpoints, honored his commitment to send a small amount of gold to me. I shall have the minstrel compose an appropriate ode as a tribute in recognition.

I shall use these funds to erect a statue of myself in the town square, my Godfred sword raised high, as an inspiration to my People in light of the difficult times facing us. I pray to the gods that there is enough left over for a pigeon-awning...

Thanks. I don't want to mess with my karma, it's in bad enough shape already.

Well Garibaldi's old news now (though Aquitaine's Gary Baldy, who looks like an aging football star, is terrorising Saxony) so King Kodran is the beleaguered hero of the hour. Barcelona's script writers are working round the clock to turn the hero's last stand into a telenovella.

There's a rumour that the Merciless Mad-man of Madrid, Donkey Oatey is going to make an appearence in Norway! Kodran, I advise you to protect your trees, he has a very big axe and he's not afraid to use it....

The last remnants of Bavarian nobility were destroyed in a failed assault on Venice. Matej the Lecherous was able to arrive via ship in time to support the small garrison against the column of Knights which followed the heavy bombardment of what was left of Venice's once mighty walls. In vengeance for the attack, he took all the Bavarian pages and squires as "special prisoners". No one's quite sure what happened to them but their doom must have been or will be horrible.

The Whitespear Lancers and the Budan Infantry fell back in the face of the Mongol Juggernaught surrendering Buda to the Horde. However Magyar skirmishers have retaken control of most of the rest of the Hungarian countryside. The Lancers moved north, just in time to intercept some sneaky Mongol cavalry, and the Infantry has fallen back to Croatia.

Bavaria's last army, Bertram's own Imperial Guard, is in Istria, still being an annoyance. Sicily doesn't seem to be much of a threat with Spanish support finally having arrived on the scene and their navy having been smashed by the westerners.

Not as bad as it might have been!

This is off-topic, but since it is about war in general, I thought you'd get a kick out of it. It's a story dictated by my nephew's son, age 7 I believe, to his mother:

August Bondi and other American heroes fought in the Civil War. Everyone saw the Redcoats. As you can see, August Bondi eventually got shot in the left leg (my note: there was a picture profile of Bondi included, lol). But remember: this story is about the Civil War, not August Bondi. Imagine you saw everyone fighting in the Civil War. How do you see imagining about the Civil War? Someone said, “Land A-Ho!” On the seventh day of the Civil War, all of the soldiers shot their guns. They are not trombones, but they look like trombones. The soldiers went to the battlefield at twelve o’clock in the morning. Twelve o’clock in the morning is not in the morning – it is in the night. That’s why some people go to Maine and visit the battlefield. If you see someone in a war, do not fight back. Just calmly walk away. The people watching the war saw August Bondi. Other people wanted lemonade. That’s why a tradition for the Civil War is to drink lemonade.

About the Author

Jonathan is a great artist and writer. His hobby is to read. Well, should I say my hobby is to read…. A lot of people like history and wars. And I like them too! So I wanted to write about the Civil War! I eventually liked to write in 2006.
