He had a bong. Big deal. Are we going to find him dead in the gutter with a needle hanging out of his arm next week? No!
He made a mistake, he admitted it. Its going to cost him millions. I bet he wont do it again.
This kid has trained harder than a whole lot us would have done in our lives so leave off the poor guy. He will have learned a very humiliating public lesson.

A fourth grade boy at my former school has an inoperable brain tumor. They are doing all the nasty cancer stuff they do, and hoping for the best. He loves swimming, and his dream was to meet Michael Phelps. He got to meet him this week, along with Michael's mom and swimming coach. Connor swam with Michael, and Michael took him shopping. It was an incredible experience for Connor and his family, and Connor's mom said that Michael, his mom, and his coach were totally awesome. They were into Connor and not all about themselves. Michael wasn't like some star who deigned to wave at a sick kid or something. He'll always have my utmost respect. (I won't mention that he's probably smoked less pot than 98% of the people on this site!) The people at the teacher web site basically tried to crucify Michael for the bong thing. These are the same people who can say "oh, he was just a little boy crying out for help" if a kid brings an uzi and a few bombs to school. Weird standards.
