Ok, let's put it this way...

Many are willing to box, race cars, play baseball, NFL... etc... and they know the risk of that. Why should they need to compound the risk by taking steroids? There is risk to everything, but adding an extra risk to keep up is stupid. NASCARS improve to save drivers, many made after #3 crashed. Baseball and NFL player ...[text shortened]... g a dangerous drug ontop of all the risks isn't something someone should be forced to do.

No one's forcing anybody to do anything by saying use whatever you want. People are being forced to piss in cups at the whim of other grown men who don't approve of something they might do that might be harmful to them. That's absurd.

They aren't being forced to do anything. They chose to play MLB and soon part of that will be submitting to drug tests.

Why stop there? Why not have random drug testing for everybody with a driver's license? After all, they could CHOSE not to drive!

All or nothing isn't working here... You are getting into a 'big brother' thinking mode with this. MLB should test for drugs to keep the game clean, and you are not talking about almost everyone driving on the streets of the US. Plus drivers are random tested, by cops.

"Keep the game clean": what the hell does that mean?? Are they going to check their fingernails and make sure they washed behind their ears? That's just a platitude; you'll have to explain to me why steroids are any different from other medical advancements or non-banned substances. You haven't yet. Sounds like you're listening to Sports Talk radio again.

Gah!

Now, as my sports radio would say... "Let's just agree to disagree on this point, but I still think you are wrong".

MLB using steroids is a danger. Kids will think they need to do them, and if they can they will get away with it without this rule. When dirt under the nails becomes a real problem, I'll want them to check into that also.

I'm also not sure why you are not able to follow what I'm saying, since I've told you a number of times the health risks with steroids. That is the problem. The dangers involved with steroids vs. improvements in protection and medicine.

And I told you that health risks are irrelevant because grown men can decide whether they want to accept those risks, just as they are free to accept the risks of playing contact or other dangerous sports. It is obvious that some certain percentage believe the risks v. rewards benefit cost analysis is favorable; most don't. Why aren't their judgments in these matters concerning their own lives their business not MLB's?

I already told you that too... kids in highschool will look up to these players juicing, and also run the risk. Like I said before, it's bad enough they already run a risk of taking a ball or batt off the face... withouth throwing drug abuse into the whole thing.

It's not fair for the game if some people want to juice up at a risk. Everyone is already taking a risk playing in the first place. I'd also say that any MLB player not taking steroids is probably very happy for this rule.

If the players want to buy better shoes from Nike, they can do that if they want. If they want to improve their healing times and muscle mass at the risk of death in the short or longterm... and pass that thinking to the youth... that is bad.

I agree. Cigarettes are extremely harmful to your health, yet people still smoke(even MLB players, some even chew), I for one. People drink alcohol in excess, bad for your health(even MLB players). People eat fatty, cholesterol filled fast food(even MLB players). People where Deet filled bug spray which is toxic to your health(I'm sure even MLB players). I could keep going, but I'm not going to. The fact remains, there are countless things out there today that are available to us humans that are harmful to our health. What we do with our bodies is our business, and the same goes to MLB players the way I see it. If they want to juice up their arms and shrink their pecker, more power to them. Its not my life, its theirs.

Your "argument" makes no sense. Yes, it's OK for you little Jimmy to want to grow up and drive a car 200 MPH in a circle, but STEROIDS?? They're bad for your health!

If they want to make a drug leauge, that is fine... but the US congress and fans have spoken on this topic.

No Steroids.

That is the new rule, and I also agree with it.
