The consensus appears to be that $40 per year is trivial, irrespective of whether one wants to compare it against $5 per month or not. That's all I'm saying. You're trying to mire me in the mud of one of the prior pissing matches others have invested their ego in, but I'm not going there.

Inflation rusty... what was $15 8 years ago and what is it now? A dollar off for every year you've subscribed, ok but almost 3 times less than what new subscribers are paying is taking it a bit far imo.
If they weren't making money then they would not be doing thing the way they are.
From oanda.com
$15 at 18th September 2001 was worth £10.23

Ignoring inflation, UK subscribers are paying 93% of the value at September 2001 yet Australian subscribers only need to find 48.5%.
Should we double the cost for Australians who are far better off due to the current exchange rate?
How many people who are currently paying $15 per year, if they were told it was going to be $30 or more next year would be happy to continue to subscribe knowing their costs were going up by 100% or more?
I think several people would lapse and the owners would then lose money, which is why they have the loyalty scheme they have, in place.
