Right, this is my two cups worth. First, Russ/Chrismo should end this thread. I have a very regretfull young lady here whom, for the want of a PM to the site admin instead of posting, all of this would have been resolved quietly and quickly.
Russ was aware of the situation and dealing with it while everyone else was in zzz land except for a nocturnal Kiwi chargrined at missing out on entry to this tourney because of a perceived jack-up, made all the worse by the fact that the perp was a RHP high-flyer, not some newbie that nobody knew or cared about.
We can't change any of that now.
What we all can do is move on. Undeniably, Zach hurt some RHP members deeply because they confided in him and trusted his counsel/friendship, qualities that endeared him to all. Those qualities are still there but he made a mistake. He created multiple personalities to further enhance his ability to win favour and spread good humour. Think about it - none of the 'pseudos' were obnoxious or belittleing. In fact they tended to 'play the fool' ( the big melon )
This behaviour has a clinical name: ADS or 'attention deficient syndrome'. There is literaly hundreds of published papers written about it so my guess is 'Zach' is one lonely dude who just wanted to be part of RHP and this is how he achieved that.
It is most important to be aware that at no time would Zach have intended to hurt or alienate anyone. That in itself would defeat the purpose of the charade. In all probobility he will have withdrawn from all social contact and be quite miserable or worse, depressed.
So, lets all go to neutral corners, reflect privately on what has occurred and leave the rest to Russ et al to deal with as they see fit.
Lamenting about it further on RHP is not going to help Zach and if the debate continues and futher fragments the site then Russ will have no option but to bring in draconian measures to prevent further occurances. And you all know what that entails!

I'm not going to comment on the whole Zach situation. I've very rarely spoken to people over the net on a particularly deep level. But, I do remember what I told Miss Hope after her threat of suicide.
On the subject of people using seperate accounts on the same PC. I've recently started moderating another site and I've noticed I now have the members IP number appear, both beneath their member profile and also beneath their name when they post. I'm sure that some way to check on this would be possible. Possibly a program could be written that alerts the site admin (Russ) to the repetition. Not necessarily to automatically kick them out. But, so that Russ can keep an eye on things.

Like skeeter i had hope this thread would die. Some of you know me personally enough to understand what i am talking about here, the other please just humour me.
I was deeply hurt by something that was sent to me from whom i thought was Miss Hope. The consequences of that were traumatic, but they are dealt with and life is now good.
Over the last couple of days, i have been able to see those events and some other things that Zach (AND THAT IS HIS REAL NAME, i know that for 100% fact) has said to me in a different light.
There are reasons why some of us, need hide behind different personas in order to present to the world a different part of ourselves. Zach needed to do that with Miss hope, knowing the two were the same person makes the picture clearer and i can see some of the motivation behind Miss Hope. Knowing Zach like i do i can even push it to understand a little why one of his characters was a mother of three.
So what is the point of all of this, Zach has things going on in his life that less than a hand full of people here know about. i am not about to blurt it all out. But the kid has needs and reasons for finding an escape here on RHP. He did that and was loved by many. Now that is gone because of one foolish act to many he was caught. No one can judge him for what he did unless you walk a kilometre in his shoes. Mind you i would not want to walk a millimetre in his shoes.
And to end it all Zach has left this site, on his own accord. Russ has NOT banned him. But Zach is deeply sorry for what he did, and importantly deeply hurt by some of the comments made in this thread. Like i said walk a kilometre in his shoes and see how you react.
To those who are thinking of leaving because of this drama, PLEASE PLEASE reconsider. Everyone here is valued and needed to make this community what it is. We have to accept the bad times as a coomunitty to celebrate the good times as a community.

I don't know if I am right in saying this just because it sucks to lose trust in people and I don't want to further that distrust. But...I think things like this, maybe not to this extent, happens more often than people think. I found out the other day that someone I was playing has 2 (at least 2) user names. this new player made reference to things he would know as the other user such as my name and I figured it out. I didn't think much about it at the time but when I read this I started wondering what his intentions were to be using multiple accounts, especially since he is a pawn star twice. I researched the clan games and the forums, as he is a leader of 2 clans and he has had some issues with people at the site, and people have had issues with him. He doesn't seem to be using the multiple accounts for anything malicious such as games between the 2 clans to get points or anything like that. My opinion is he now has a new id that is completely separate from the player that people don't like. He is more anonymous. Which is why I am refraining from using the names he goes by.
I know this is a lot different than what has happened with Zach, but it's an example that multi accounts may be happening a lot more than people think. I didn't know Zach on a personal level, just played a few games with him, and you ALL are probably going "who's ncrosby?"😵; I don't post very often at all, but I have been at the site for a long time and read a lot of the forum material mostly for chess and site tips. It may sound a bit weird since I don't participate, but I have gotten a lot of enjoyment and laughs from you all and there is a lot of you that I really like. So I just wanted to say that I feel bad for the people who have been affected by this, and I hope it doesn't happen again!

I just want to say one more thing about this, and then I'm through with this thread. I was originally rather angry about this situation (see previous posts). I think my anger was justified by the actions that had taken place. But, now that it's been a few days, and I've had time to cool off and look at this a little more objectively, I really don't care anymore. Yes, it was a big deal and yes, it was a mistake (a rather big one at that). But it's over and done with. I've moved past it. I hope everyone else can too. I think it's time we all just let this whole mess drop. I'm sure the person responsible is regretfull and, if they've have had time to think about like I have, i'm sure the other members who were angry for the reasons that I was are past it now also. Let's all get back to the task at hand and play some chess. Anyway, that's all.
