I saw Four Tet "live" last year. It was pretty shocking, but I guess he is always going to struggle for a live show. Kid Koala was there as well, mixing four decks with no headphones. It was unreal.

I imagine four tet could only work in a seated show with some psychedelic VJing going on in the background. Haven't seen him live, though.

A couple of good Australian bands well worth a listen to are Eskimo Joe and Thirsty Merc. Great music!
I heard this band at Mardi Grass in Nimbin in 2003. They were brilliant. Female lead singer, nice chilled jazzy sound. The rest is kind of sketchy.
