I heard this band at Mardi Grass in Nimbin in 2003. They were brilliant. Female lead singer, nice chilled jazzy sound. The rest is kind of sketchy.

Esoteric would be right. It would probably be Missy Higgins or a band called George. Could even have been Frente (since broken up).

Well, I disagree. I find them still quite valid and that Tom Verlaine was a riviting guitarist.

if you mean 'it's all subjective', then i have to disagree. i think it is valid to say that Britney Spears for example is crap, and that someone who thinks she isn't is simply wrong.

having said that, though, i'm not sure what to make about the fact that bands like Television have amongst their admirers lots of educated music fans...
