Just done my second run of my third week of this. I'm now up ot 3 mile runs, and i finished this one in 31 minutes. I am stopping and restarting towards the end, but i'm stopping the same distance away from my house as i did when i was running 2.5 miles (if you understand what i mean).

I plan to keep adding 0.5 of a mile every two weeks until i reach 5 miles, then i will start venturing to hillier parts of dublin, maybe taking in some of the steeper parts of the Marathon itself...so far i'm just happy i'm still going.

I've taken up my Taijiquan again which is nice, and i hope a bit of qi gong will help my concentration when i get up to longer distances.

keep it up, i had a friend, Jamie Harvey, he started off running street light to street light at the very beginning of his training, ended up doing a marathon 🙂

That's brilliant, I admire your ambition. Do you remember my sister? She came to the chess meet. She ran a half marathon 2009. I went along the sea front to train with her and even on my bike I couldn't keep up! Really takes stamina to get running.

Nice one Huck 🙂

I actually signed up for my first 1/2 marathon in March (13.1 miles for the imperials on the thread). I've never run more than 5 miles, and usually more like 5K. And I've been "off" running for quite a while so I'm nervous, but I have a training plan and yesterday was 4 miles...a little tired and sore but completed without stopping. Pandora helps, as does a runners' GPS app....

I use mapmyrun.com

I'm going to build up to 5 miles in incraments of 0.5 miles. I will then keep that up for maybe two months, changing my runs to hilly parts of the city, or maybe run through pheonix park...mixing it up a bit. My first proper run will be 5 miles in July, followed by 10 miles, half marathon, and full marathon ( i hope)...The Marathon proper being in October. I hope to be able to run 10 miles regularly befoer i get to the half marathon, otherwise i'll make a fool of myself hehe.

Good luck with the run mate.
