Interesting, i'll try moving it. Incidently, we have wireless phones in the office and i have noticed the internet slows down when someone is on the phone. What sort of signal do phones use to be wireless around the office? Is it a radio signal? or is it the same sort of signal that our router sends out? Just wondering if the phone might be involved somehow...😕
When the wireless phones were near the computer or router they gave interferance. They can be close to the same frequency, 2.4 Ghz, which is the wireless router frequency. The problem is the RF circuits are not all that sophisticated and don't do a great job of isolating interferance,
in both the wireless phones and the router. So it was a great help to move the wireless phones away from the computers and the wireless router. If they are separated by some distance, say 20 feet or so, they give each other less interferance. The filter response is like a bell curve and distance puts the interfering signal down the side of that curve. Also going to 5.8 Ghz wireless phones will help, that puts the frequencies pretty far apart, but even those two, 2.4 and 5.8 Ghz can interfere if they are close enough. The Leboeuf's simply have too many devices in the house, wireless this, wireless that. We finally got them compatable though. Also do the channel thing. Don't know how deep you want to get into the guts of the Router but there are firmware(Eprom's with permenant code embedded which can be changed) and software upgrades. If you get the product support people involved they can make it up to the latest level. It also helps if you have everyone on the same format, G hopefully. BTW, there is a new router format coming out soon that will make all this stuff a thing of the past so they say. Good luck. Oh, one more thing. I have a HP wireless printer and found the dam thing interfered with my laptop, gave out a very strong signal but the computer it was connected to was only a few feet apart so it didn't really need that big a signal but the router electronics is not smart enough to realize that and cut back so if I had the notebook downstairs in the living room, the stupid printer tried to establish itself as my main link, which won't work. So I killed the wireless part and went back to just a USB hookup and that took care of that problem.
