I really don't mean to discourage your get-rich-quick scheme, you did the video surprisingly well. but maybe you should learn chess first, and THEN try making up a new variant?

I mean, at 900-1000 you have absolutely no idea what you're trying to improve on. and it shows.

It seems more than just a variant, and that you don't really need to know anything about chess to play this new game?

It gets my vote.

If I was Lord Sugar, I would be ripping your hand off looking to invest.

Edit: Every stoned uni student will be playing this next year, Mighty Boosh meets Chess.

Clarity is required regarding "Fog of War", if an opponent is wearing a smart dinner jacket can that player re-invoke the "Fog of War" to "Respawn" similar to en-passant?

For starters, placing the pieces where you like adds a complete random factor to the game and introduces a lot of luck. Chess is one of the few games that almost completely elminates luck, which is one of the beauties of the game.
Also it seems convoluted. Another beauty of chess is in its simplicity.

Hi Brother Edwin,

I like your idea (especially the "thrones" part) and wish you the best of luck with it. I have my doubts though about the gameplay, but it is hard to have an opinion about it without having played it first.
There are loads of chess-variations out there, but this one seems the hardest to play of them all and I'm afraid that's why this will never be popular.

PS. Was the cape at the end really necessary? I have to be honest that I laughed a bit...

what about Fischer random? it too relies upon the random placing of the pieces and was invented by Fischer because of its simplicity.
