Great, yeat another batch of new trolls.
You know, I participated in the forums at this site for about a year before I got a star. I've been an avid advocate of continuing to let non-subscribers post as there are many who contribute good things to the forums. I have to confess though, my position increasingly wavers as time progresses.
It is with great regret that I now cast my lot in with those who seek some sort of restriction of posting for non-subscribers. My apologies to my non-subscribing friends. I would still like to see non-subs post, but it is only wise (in my honest opinon) to set some limits so the forums don't get filled with this increasing amount of spam and flame. It is sad that these trolls come to this site (the only forums I have half a quip of respect for), but it is inevitable.
Anyone else feel as I do? Think some kind of restriction is becoming necessary but hate to put all of the 'good' non-subs in the same boat?
Best Regards,
Omnislash
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Subscribers are every bit as able and willing to post spam, flame, and general BS as non-subscribers.
The best way to deal with irritating posts is by not rising to the bait.
Spammers & flamers just want attention.
Ignore them & they'll go away or start posting threads that people will want to take part in.

EDIT: It's goddamn 'hear, hear' you mongoloids.
Originally posted by martin williamsI agree completely. Why punish all non-subs for something which a small number of people - subs as well as non-subs - is doing? Rather deal with the trolls. Most of them will probably disappear rather quickly when ignored. And if they don't, they can be banned.

Don't feed the troll!

Hence someone has to a) make a stand against such nonsense and b) press the Alert Moderator button early and often so that a ban can be implemented as soon as possible.
Originally posted by DOlivier2004Yes, sorry, I wasn't quite clear about that. When I said "they can be banned", that sort of included "you need to make the moderators aware of the problem, so that they can ban them". Of course there will always be some disagreement on what's spam and what are legitimate posts. If there is any doubt, I am against a ban.
