Sorry if it's been already said but I couldn't help.
At the moment all we have is people who keep continuosly the VF on just to avoid being timeouted despite moving every day in hundred of games, or we have people who put the VF up only for weekend days because they play from the office and can't move from home (is that a vacation????)
Sorry again for the rant but what can you expect from Ravello?😉

I said it while the vote was going down... it's stupid. The reason we went with Timebank was because RHP didn't want to make vacation time for a year.
Now, we have both. I'd have to say that's redundant I'd have to say!
Anyway, the users who are burning their vacation this way will run out... and that is when they will pay for their deeds!

Timebank is there just to assure an extra time after the ordinary time for a move, now game draggers have another weapon to use in order to pursue their turtleish pace.
Originally posted by RavelloHmmm, perhaps it never went to a vote, but there was overwhelming approval in the forums for this new feature. There were a few voices that were against it, self included.

Since i'm not a sub, i'm not to familiar with it.
Is there a limit the the # of vacation days?
Do you have to pre-book them or if you are about to be timeouted in a game, require extra time, etc....
You can put up a vacation date and scam extra time?
It sounded like a pretty dumb idea to me also, but what do I care. I'm living the great life of a non-sub with the amazing ads...Red riding hood ad freaked me out though 😠

i didn't see the vacation problem in advance, partly because i was just new to RHP . . .now it is clear that it needs to be "tweaked" - at least
1. if VF is up . . YOU CANNOT MOVE!
2. VF has to be posted at least 1 week in advance and cannot be taken down . . . .your VF is posted for the period of time you have it . .then your play resumes
it will still allow a little dragging . but the strategy part will be taken away . .right?
Originally posted by PhlabibitThere was a vote: http://www.timeforchess.com/vote/result.php?voteid=13 , but that was very unspecific. I was for the implementation of some form of timeout immunity while on vacation, but I don't think what we got is a very good solution. I thought it would probably replace the timebank, which IMO would have some advantages. I also think it's very strange that non-subs can't use the new vacation system (while still being affected by it when they play subs).

1. The reason for this is that there would be a period of time between taking down the VF and actually making a move (esp when playing lots of games) where they could be timed out by their opponent. Allowing a single move per game would get around this.
2. I thought time did have to be booked in advance and was locked? forcing at least a weeks notice is a good idea though.
Originally posted by MCAIt used to be locked, but now it's possible to end the vacation earlier than originally planned.

I don't think forcing at least a week's notice would be a good idea at all. While the vacation system is nice to have for preplanned vacations, in my opinion it may be even more important for things you won't know a week in advance, like illness or the death of a close family member.
