Watch out for Sh76, he shall be on suicide watch for the next 24 hours.
Would have been nice, though.
Maybe next year.
Originally posted by sh76i remember Marino, that was the last time i took an interest if American football, oh well, as in chess, one must be gracious in defeat and retain ones dignity, i think the Jets did that.
I don't think they went into prevent D. They just got shredded by the greatest QB in the NFL at least since Marino. And, after Green went down, their running game was ineffective.
I do think Sanchez played well, though.
Originally posted by sh76They were in prevent the final two minutes of the first half. Oh, well. They tried hard! As stated before, they hang nothing to hang their heads for and indeed Sanchez played lights out! Next year he will be fearsome!

The "same old jets" mantra is over.
BTW: Revis Island will have some new inhabitants next year.

I despise teams who back into the playoffs through the help of a cowardly coach like Caldwell of the Colts! That sorry ass move left my Houston Texans out of the playoffs and the latter, even though I am not from Houston, were a more deserving team!

Jinx 'em robbiecarrobie! The Dolts are gonig down and going down hard! So are the Ain'ts! That way my Cowboys will have lost to a SB headed team!
Originally posted by Big Orange CountryYou take all this way too seriously. It was all in jest. The Colts played masterfully and disposed of the upstart! So what? Houston indeed had more than plenty of opportunities. Did not get in but will next year!

Originally posted by Big Orange CountryMy prediction: Colts play a decent first half then get outplayed the second half. Saints are not the Jets. Jets took foot off the accelerator. Saints won't. And don't forget robbiecarrobie is rooting for them. Big jinx in the making! They are not your Colts and they are not my Cowboys. Just a couple of teams. I happen to like the cowboys. So what? So the Colts are better. Who cares. perhaps you do. I don't. I watch, enjoy and get into it with other fans. part of the fun of football.

and yes, I do probably take all this way too seriously. you see, I grew up and live ten minutes from Knoxville, TN. I am currently going to the University of Tennessee. I don't know if you're familiar with how sports work in the south, but around here, ten years later, Peyton Manning is still a demigod. If he ran for governor on a campaign promising higher taxes and lower public services, he would win in a landslide. that's just what we think of him. Think of how the folks from alabama view The Bear, and transpose that onto a player. No one will ever convince me or any other vol that there was ever a greater quarterback. It just won't happen.
Originally posted by no1marauderI think he's confusing any defense in which the D-backs drop into deep zone with prevent. to clarify, in a prevent defense, there are only three down lineman, and they are the only rushers. The rest of the defenders play zone across the entire field. D-Backs go deep, linebackers cover the mid-ranged passes, and no one covers the short pass. It's all about keeping the football in front of them, not risking a big play deep. Hence, it is a sell-out PREVENTion of the big play.

Originally posted by Big Orange CountryGreat U that UT. I now understand your rabidness for Manning. Just to set the record straight, I have always loved and admired Payton and his brother and have nothing but respect for the obvious great father, Archie, who brought up such fine boys. I love Tennessee and everything southern. The only blot on the great state is giving the world a dufus like Gore. I have nothing but good to say about TN. Visited for the first time last TG and fell in love. In fact if my daughter got accepted at college in Nashville and decided to attend there I would be extremely happy. Nothing is more dear to me than young folk who take the college route and try to improve theirs and other's lot in life.

All this said, I still think NO will win simply because they have a running game and Colts do not. It should be a great game indeed and likely much closer than everyone thinks it will be. As for me me being humble or not, you know not what's in my heart. If you follow the thread I congratulated all Vikings fans after applying a sound beating to the Cowboys. Regrettably the Colts are coached by a cowardly dufus in Caldwell who wins in spite of his bad decisions because of greats like Manning and Garcon. If the team were led by Manning as a player coach then I'd feel differently.
Originally posted by Big Orange CountrySo I was wrong. Big deal. They still went soft and were covering way off the ball and the receivers. To suddenly allow a TD after stopping them for 28 minutes was awful and the direct cause of their loss!

Originally posted by scacchipazzoi don't really disagree with the decision to drop into prevent, it just allows the defense the best chances of success in the two minute drill. just about any coach would have done the same in that situation.
