And I have no reason, and can choose, not to awnser them. I don't see these questions being mandatorily posed on anyone else. Maybe some day I will tell more about myself, but not this day. In good time. 😀
Your willinglessness (I wish that was a real word) to respond only leaves me thinking there can be little credibility to what you post in these forums.
Edit: Your post also suggests that you do have more you plan to reveal in time. I don't think I can handle the drama.

Are you accusing him of cheating? Gee, I think I better start making more mistakes. 😲

What I'm saying is that your team needs to get the respect of the membership.
While you can do this by busting the OBVIOUS cheaters, you should not bust the people who are in the "grey area"... which is what you did with Exy.
We employ no preconceptions of "obvious" and "grey". The evidence, and the evidence alone, tells us what is "obvious" and "grey". In light of the evidence, every 3b banning so far has been obvious. There is nothing grey about any of them.
I support the mods....But I DO KNOW that there are a whole lot of cheaters who are using engines in ALL their games - nearly EVERY ONE of their moves!
If you know this, and you support the mods, then why have you not submitted one single complaint to us? Quite clearly, you would much rather tell us how to do the job, than actually help us.
You take out the people who are actually abusing your paying members and you are heros!
Is that what being a game mod means to you, Arrakis? Becoming a hero? Maybe you are missing the point entirely...
To Arrakis...
I fail to see how the game Mods have been hailed as hero's. They have recieved a LOT of critisism of late which i feel is uncalled for! These guys are doing a service to this site, for free, giving up their free time to remove cheats in order to improve the site for people like you and me! They deserve praise for the thankless job they are doing. I for one believe they should be left to get on with keeping this site free of wanna be players who squash genuine players with engines to boost their own ego's. There is no place for that here, as i'm sure you'll agree, people like yourself come here to improve their chess against real people.
The ratings that this site provides gives a player a good indication of if they are improving or not (which is why we come here!) People who abuse this system are not here to improve and serve a diservice to players like yourself who come here to get better. Don't morn their loss. If Exy got banned, it's because he was cheating, simple as. No amount of posting in this forum is going to change that, for the sake of the site i think it's really about time we just drop this as a subject. I realize you are more concerned with the blatant cheats, but let's face it, unless you draw them in a tournament, you can spot them a mile away and simply not play them. It is the subtle cheat i worry about more. The kind that only brings out the engine when they're loosing. The more of them that go, the better i say. Exy, if he used an engine (which i'm willing to accept) was one of these people. I would never have spotted he was an engine user from his graph, which makes me twice as happy i never played him, and twice as happy he got banned before that other top 50 player(S)...

I don't know what to think. Exy was the leader of my clan. A friendly and very helpful leader at that, always ready to give advice and follow suggestions. On the other hand, I hate cheaters. I know there have been cheaters on this site, as well as on blitz sites i frequent. I've conversed with some of them (if you want to call it that). I can't follow the twisted logic of why they are doing it. I appreciate all the work the mods have put in to "clean up" the site and hate to see them take a battering because, after all, this is what we asked them to do. On the other hand, if someone accused me of cheating I don't know what I could do. How could i defend myself? I'm only assuming Exy gave his side of the story to the mods and they didn't believe him, so what could he do other than leave? It's a tough decision, no easy answers.

Originally posted by arrakisI don't actually see how there's any "grey area" involved here. Either someone used engines to cheat, or they didn't. If they did, then this is cheating and it's an offence that warrants banning.

I've never met or heard of Exy before this thread, but it sounds like he's a nice enough guy and it's unfortunate that he got banned. But the fact remains that the same rules need to apply to all of us, and we've all been told that using engines is a serious enough offence that there's a zero tolerance policy with respect to it.
It isn't a "grey area" if someone exceeds the speed limit when they're normally a safe driver. It's not up to the police to have to establish that the person regularly drives badly before they can issue a ticket. A zero tolerance policy makes it easier, and not harder, to target repeat offenders. If you know of any then I'm sure the mods would appreciate being informed so they can investigate.
I don't come here to play against chess computers, which I can do with other software without using the net if I so desire. I come here to play against real human beings on a level playing field where everyone follows the rules, and I'd rather see a few people banned when their actions warrant it than see the deterrence against cheating weakened.
my point was not to make an accusation, but merely point out that anyone can be accused, or appear guilty of something.
if you fancy a game, please send one over.

Personally I think you play pretty good, I play all sorts of levels and have been beaten by much lower ranked players than my present and past ratings. Please... more accusations... just exactly my point. I'd play you again.. for fun.. you might win.. I might.
The game moderators... nice going.
Have fun chaps and chapesses... I'm off to relax somewhere else. Think I'll stick to the over the board stuff. At least it would stop crap like that mail.
