Actually, I feel there are still many cheaters left and the mods are too slow to react. I'll be honest, I don't want to play engines, and didn't come to this site to play engines. I know some don't have problems with playing engines, even though they could simply buy these engines themselves, but I didn't come here to play engines.

That being said, ...[text shortened]... n axed first. I think the Exy ban was a firm message to these players they better leave, I hope.
You just can't quit embarrassing yourself over this, can you?

Again, it was not "1200-1300 to 2000 in a few months"... it was 1760 to 1960 in five months.

Saying something over and over and over and over and over again, does not make it automatically true.

Unfortunately karnachz and Marina, you don't seem to have put a lot of thought into how cheat detecting works.

The mods don't have a speed gun telling them that this user was doing 50 in a 30 zone. That would be inarguable evidence.

There is a "grey area" involved here. The mods only have a bunch of patterns that they can base some guess work of ...[text shortened]... nt like that, I feel that any user on this site could disappear into the night at any time.

I'm aware that there'd need to be convincing evidence and I've covered this elsewhere:

http://www.redhotpawn.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=31263&page=3

(I'm trying a link for the first time, so I hope this works.)

Obviously, there would need to be clear evidence that the person cheated; the mods would need to be convinced that it was next to impossible for a legitimate player to have made those moves. My point wasn't about this; it was simply that any instance of cheating (as long as it can be proven) is sufficient to be banned and we've all been told that that's the case.

If I was wrongfully banned after an accusation of cheating, I'd first contact the mods privately and make my case, then if that failed I'd post on here and explain what happened. It's not in the interests of the mods for there to be sincere players feeling aggrieved in such a manner. (A real cheater, on the other hand, would probably just leave the site and go on and look for another site where they think they might have a better chance of not being caught.)

Incidentally, are persons who've been banned for cheating still able to post in the forums to discuss what happened?

I noticed there haven't been that many people removed for engine use. Six. That would suggest the moderators aren't taking their job lightly. Also noticed a lot more people (persons?) have been removed for using multiple accounts. My award to the most subtle disguise of multiple accounts goes to (drum roll please) Simply the Best, Simply the Chess, and Simply the Mess. Now how on earth would the mods suspect one guy was behind all these?

Well, if you feel you must leave in fear of being caught of cheating due to improvement, then chances are, in my experiences, that cast shadows upon you of your credibility.

Problem is, convicting a cheater takes time. Even the obvious ones, by looking at their graphs, the mods need to analyze game after game after game to get FORENSIC evidence. They nee ...[text shortened]... e removed by itself from this human phycological technique rather then what the mods do/convict.
You suck bollox.

You don't match up too much? Neither did Exy. Analysing his games with crafty (closest ma ...[text shortened]... dering the number of mistakes and blunders he made.

As I said Marina, you could be next.

My name is James by the way. Don't want you to come to the London meet expecting a girl. 😉

I see your point, but perhaps the mods have found games where Exy matched up A LOT. He's played over 1000 games, you couldn't possibly have analysed them all. Perhaps someone complained about a specific game/games, thought about that? I know full well that any one of my games could be analysed with an engine and found to be lacking, when i say that i mean ALL OF THEM, with no exceptions. If the mods chose to ban him it's because they had serious proof. That kind of proof does not exist in my games, therefore i cannot be banned for cheating. I'm sure if you analysed all of his games you'd find some which match up to an engine far too much. If that's not the case then the mods have got it wrong but until someone turns around and proves this to me then i will assume the mods are correct as they have no reason to ban people nilly willy without evidence.
