David Stern, commissioner of the NBA for 30 years (1984-2014).

On December 12, 2019, Stern suffered a brain hemorrhage and underwent emergency surgery. He died in Manhattan on January 1, 2020, at age 77.

BTW, we missed a couple from 2019. Did you see that D.C. Fontana passed away? She wrote some of the best original Star Trek scripts, and edited many others.

When I was at school, the kids who liked Rush, generally, struck me as being a little bit more cerebral and more musical than kids who liked bands like Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Nazareth, Camel, Deep Purple etc. I was more into Bowie, Wyatt, Zappa, Talking Heads, The Who.

R.I.P. Neil: thanks for the excellent drumming and excellent lyrics, although I only really came to realize how excellent they were when I was back cataloguing in the 90s there somewhere when my music appreciation was no longer tribal.
