i have major problems with my pc, i know this is a chess site but theas or this problem is affecting my ability to make moves etc...is there any one within this community who can help.maybe RHP could set up a help page to this affect. i shant at this stage give a discription of the trubble but to say may be as RHP as a computer based internet based community such a in house fix would be a good idear .

run adaware, spybot S&D etc then stop surfing for porn.

I also suspect the spyware/adware issue and urge you to install a firewall as well as use firefox and stop surfing to nasty sites.

I mean, if your hard disk is about to give up the ghost, for example, no amount of anti-virusing will help it. 🙁

Try a different browser - firefox preferably, and see if it still crashes.
I suspect not.

btw is it IE6 or IE7?

Windows 2000/XP does not crash unless you :-

- install dodgy programs and drivers (Video card drivers and sound card drivers are likely culprits)
- have a corrupt registry
- you yourself have deleted system/program files

Try using the help forum, that's the RHP tech community you are looking for and was set up for, but then most of the RHP helpers are already here.

Overheating is the biggest cause, in my experience. Followed by dodgy RAM.
