On a friend's computer, if we right click a photo and 'send to' -> 'mail recipient' (or in the left tool pane under 'file and folder tasks' click on 'email this file'😉, an Office Outlook email window appears - not an Outlook Express window.

Outlook Express is set as default email program but we want to fix the above problem so that when we right click a photo and send to mail recipient, it opens an Outlook Express email window and not an Office Express one ...

Any ideas?

Ask MCA or Dr Strangelove. Both are pretty sharp on that stuff.

Are you sure it's set as the default email service?
Verify in Control Panel - Add/Remove programs -> Set Program Access and Defaults.

I don't use M$ Office so I'm not sure if there's a setting in it for that.

Just double checked and it is the default one ...

I have a vague memory of once adding a path to the (right click) 'send to' menu a while back but can't remember how to do it - will check google again.

Went to the 'send to' folder in documents and settings / username - the properties for 'mail recipient' show that it should be opened by Outlook Express - but if I right click and send a photo to mail recipient, it's definitely going to Office Outlook ...

That was my first thought to be honest - my friend didn't want to but I'll be firm!

OK- next question - with the XP CD, is it possible to reinstall all the program files while leaving the stuff in 'my documents' intact?

A friend fixed a problem with my old machine and I'm reasonably sure all of my games, photos etc were left untouched with what he did with the XP CD.

(Before you say, 'Just ask him' - he's away on holiday for a week!)

You can do a System File Check* - or a 'repair'Install** of XP. Both ways you dont lose your stuff.

1*. goto start-run-type in sfc /scannow exactly with the space after the sfc and be ready to stick the CD in.
