"hopefully by the end of the month I'll have at least one freshly taken shot worth keeping."
Hints at perhaps burn-out on photography? Would taking a week off recharge the batteries?
As far as topics go, here are some I'm currently trying:
1 Abstraction. Varying the angle of the shot of a common object until it loses its identity in the photo. Also extreme close-up for the same effect.
2 Faces. Tight cropped with neutral background/shallow dof. Not models, just the wide range of humankind.
3 On my daily walk is a house with 4 metal chairs (kinda 1950's style) in the front lawn, each brightly painted in almost neon colors. I want to do a series of shots of first the empty chairs and then the chairs filled with different people of all sorts.
The idea above of the homeless sounds interesting. Good luck!

For the past couple of years my photography has been mostly professional event photography, family photography and competition motivated.
Very recently, I haven't really been taking any conceptual shots for personal reasons, so this idea came about. Hopefully, these suggestions will provide the motivation I need to go out there and take the shots.
Out of the suggestions above,
Homeless people (as a concept rather than subject),
Stillness
and
Decay (possibly adapted to fit the theme "Circle of Life", which I already have an idea for)
are the ones that interest me the most.
Thanks for all the suggestions, keep them coming.
