I think you're right, that some attractive women, and men, like to fish for compliments, but disagree that the rule applies to most. I know of a lot of attractive people who sincerely lack self confidence.
You know what fascinates me though? The very large women who are ultra-confident, and love to flaunt. I've seen belly rolls exposed with pride, and ca ...[text shortened]... the lack of confidence so many very attractive/fit women have. It's totally in the mindset.
The ultra-confident ones that you mention are often those who have had it with trying to fit into this narrow little mold of "beautiful" and have shrugged that pressure off. They love their bodies, lumps and warts and all. And that's what's attractive. It's not perfection, it's joy.
