I figure, since the rec-concept has fallen on it's knees; crawling humiliated in the sand; being a total spacewaster (not even responding anymore), recs can continue being used as it mostly have so far (from what I can tell): to show other posters appreciation.

But yes, the private forums should have their own internal reccing system. Since it doesn't, I see no problem with having things the way they have been for quite some time now.

Then trevor suggested we start a recommended posts thread in the private forum, which I liked. Kinda corny, but it could work. Which means you can all stop your crying about it now. See? Everyone wins. This is progress and love people. Grouphug? πŸ˜€

Who cares? The more recs you have the bigger a jerk you are.

I almost had to kill a man to get my past 3 recs!

Now see, this is exactly what I'm talking about. 😡 Inane posts getting recced. I have to give you one myself.

So why would anyone have a problem with the adults wanting to rec each other in the private such that it disturbs the public? πŸ™„

Makes no sense at all.

It's inane in your opinion.

Personally, I thought is was funny, insightful, perfectly delivered and well timed.

And no, I didn't rec it either.

Nobody said private forum wrecks should count in the public wreck count, or did I miss that? And the public wreck count doesn't mean anything anyway (well, maybe it works as a jerkometer, as no1 pointed out). Besides, neither SJ nor stocken have very low wreck counts, taking into account how long they have been here (although they may not be as big jerks as you or me), so I don't know what you are on about with the "pitiful number of recs". I don't see why we should have wrecks in the private forums, but I don't see how it would be a problem if we did either.

What is beyond me is that seems like some people cannot live without recs or the equal of a pat on their shoulder when they think they made a good post.

Who cares about recs?

I your private forum just write "good point,I agree with you!" and get over it.

Part of the argument that I am not getting here is this:

If an artificial rec count is what a clan was after, why would they want to or have to request to be able to rec private forums when they could just come out here and rec every post made by the clan's members?

Would that not be faster and easier, if, in fact, the artificial rec count is what they sought?

I think we should have recs in the private for the same reason we do out here. When the private forum is very active (or you're away for longer periods like I am now) it's good to have a working rec-system in place.

Edit: And for showing appreciation. πŸ˜€

Because SJ hardly posts in the forum anymore. Don't know if there are more like that, but I don't think so.

That would still not account for wanting an artifical rec count, nor wanting to rec in a private forum nor require that someone even post in the public forum. I could come through this thread an rec every single post without having to have posted anything myself.

Mind you - I am not arguing for or against this sort of rec idea, personally, I dont even care about recs....just refuting that the want of a high rec count, even artificially so is absolutely no basis for wanting this sort of thing.

But if you don't post, you can't be recced.

It's not inane at all. It just flew right over his head.
