I didn't insulted him, I critiqued his work on his site.
I dare anyone who has a basic knowledge of visual arts to say that the drawings, paintings and fashion art posted on that site are nice.
Your cheap shots each time you see a post of mine are becoming boring.
Yes, you're quite the art critic.

Don't build up your part.

I wasn't paying my college teachers, it's only the uni teachers you pay.
Edit: Surely someone pays them. Even college courses are hardly volunteer work. They can hardly expect to justify their salary if they drive away every talentless mook they happen to come across.

Let's be honest, your work isn't exactly top-notch; maybe your teachers just don't want to upset you.
I have had exhibitions at the end of each year at college and now at uni, where random people who don't just 'say things to keep me happy', come up to me and compliment my work. I know that the photo's of the work don't portray them as well as I would like, and maybe they look better in person, who knows.

Why don't you guys put something up? Is there something you enjoy, something creative you do? Post it. Share it. I've shared my music, and I'll share more too. I know it sucks for the most part, but I enjoy doing it.
Surprise surprise... once in a while there is someone who tells me it's good and to keep giving it a shot. They are other people th ells you too keep trying and compliments what you are doing. Share it or shut it.

But no matter whether you have to pay or not, there are probably more people who want to study arts than places, so I doubt the teachers have to fear for their job if they tell bad students that they'd better do something else. However, they might have to fear for their job if many of their students got good grades even though they were crap. So HoH's argument doesn't work anyway.
Edit: Palynka was faster. 😞

For my interview they gave me an unconditional place on the course, which meant I didn't even have to pass my previous course to get in, so that also makes my work better than you might think. Plus they didn't have to be nice to me at the interview as I wasn't paying them then. Go have a look at the UCAS website for place numbers and the number of applicants, then you will see how hard it is to get in places here.
I have an extremely limited knowledge of painting and I only really like a few painters (Kandinski, Monet, Dali, Magritte and not much more). It's an art I'm generally not very interested in, so I'm not at all qualified to criticize anyone. All I can say is that I like or dislike some painting.
But since there are some people who know a lot more about painting then me, please tell me what's wrong with this painting of EO that I actually like:

Seriously. Anyone who has studied art (like Rav claims to) and "knows" what's good and what's not must have seen Picasso's paintings at one time or the other.
Expressive has composed art that by far outweighs the incomplete nature of Picasso's scribblings, so I'm curious to hear what the general consensus on Picasso is around here. Or is it possible that fame and acceptance in certain circles forfeits genuine criticism where such is due?
What's that old saying: "The art is in the eye of the beholder"? Judging from some of the modern art I've had the misfortune to see, some people has very strange eyes indeed.
I think Expressive is promising and should keep it up. Even if he turns out to be the crappiest artist alive, he can't do much worse than Picasso did, the way I see it. And if he does paint Picasso style (there you have children's painting style people) he might even be famous and rich once he dies.
(I do realise Picasso could paint. Apparently, though, he is the most famous for those lines, triangles and dots. The eyes of the beholder. lol.) 😵

EDIT: Also, Picasso could indeed paint. You can't just start churning out mis-shapen portraits and calling it cubism though. You actually need to know what the hell you are doing. EA claims that most of portraits are from a life drawing class. I've yet to hear of a life drawing class that doesn't teach realism drawing first. And what EA has produced is horrific if it is an attempt at realism. It's only slightly less so if it's not.
Wauw, this thread started out on the subjects of giving a rec to someone for posts in the private forums.
btw this has it's on thread in the site ideas.
And now it's a thread about EO's art and everybody is an art critic.
There you go expressive a whole lot of people has seen your art at this moment and have an oppinion about it, they even discus it in here. (that's an accomplisment in it self!!)
Remember just one thing, people are different all over the world and look at things in a different way. It's only natural that some people will like it and some not. Bla, bla, bla (I think you can catch my drift here).
Bottom line: Don't let the critics get you down EO and go on doing in what you want to do and believe in!!!
