@Suzianne Down near Middlesbrough docks was a small cafe
that made sloppy joes and people couldnt get enough of them sadly the lady owner died and took her recipie to her grave I have tried many times to replicate this delicious sarnie but I have never got close ( i didnt know anything about its origin ).
You might stop trying if you knew it was an American favorite.

You might like a "barbecue-beef" sandwich even better.

If you're really interested, I could find a recipe for both.

The judge on that court doesn't know what he's talking about.

Has he never heard of an open-face sandwich? ONE piece of bread.

I always google the questions after answering, apparently it was about more about whether a burrito could be called a sandwich rather than a debate on the number of slices. Considering my burrito winning the most imaginative sandwich award we possibly need a retrial.

Yeah ... I wondered about that.

The ruling was made regarding an operator in a mall being guaranteed
monopoly on sandwiches. It needed a judge to define what a sandwich was!

Not a recipe, just some things to try.

Yes, the basics, beef (we call it ground beef, minced beef is probably same), onions, worcestershire sauce, some kind of tomato base.

Try these ingredients, either one at a time, or a few together:

tomato paste

ketchup

mustard (your pref. either yellow or deli mustard)

brown sugar (don't need to add much)

chili powder

barbecue sauce (not like A-1, make sure the bottle says Barbecue Sauce, I'd go with hickory flavor)

minced garlic (finely minced)

can try finely diced bell pepper (some people don't like this added in, personal pref.)
