I made a batch using Bacon Salt... but I screwed up the cooking.

I decided to boil again, less salt.
Next I sprinkled the bacon salt and cooked at 300f rather than 400f.

Come 20 minutes, they were not brown at all.

Cranked to 400f.

4 minutes later, half were black.

Still good... just a bit over-done.

I have now made a third batch.

I did the boil, one cup of seeds, 3 cups water, 2 tbs salt, 2 tbs garlic powder.

Bring to boil, simmer for 10 minutes.

I strained and spread them on a greased pan and sprinkled with sea salt.

I cooked them on 400f for 18 minutes, tossing and spreading often.

I watched them close, and pulled them out when each one was perfectly golden.

I only have ONE punkin left.... I ate them ALL!

Two questions, first how does your PC even work, being full of nuts and seeds? 😕
And, what's in the box? 😛

mlprior and I both did the boil thing, and decided the husk was softer, but cooking was uneven.

I've done 3 total batches so far, third came out best.

The only adjustment I made was spreading my seeds more carefully, and mixing them around every 4 or so minutes. When they got around 17 or 18 minutes they browned up in seconds and I removed them.

The last batch I put 2 tablespoons of garlic powder in with the boiled seeds, and sprinkled sea salt on them before placing them in the oven.

I used regular vegitable oil, don't much care for olive oil.

Another user swears by ground ginger and clove... I'm not sure I want to run the risk of making punkin seeds I don't like. I like mine salty.

Good luck, they're yummy!~

tomorrow kind of turned into right now... you're in the oven. didn't bother withing the baking sheet, just buttered tray and put a little olive oil over it to stop if from burning. we'll see in about 15 mins... eat one raw and it didn't seem so bad so just boiled it for about 7 mins.

you're right about turning them often... left it in for around 8 mins before checking, they do seem to cook unevenly. other than that looking good. even tried your garlic salt thing, mainly because it was there and i never use it but hey.
