Sure it is - it WANTS to survive. It is selfish by taking from others to see to its own survival.

Vlad, if I may be as bold as to say, you appear to be showing a mature attitude within this thread.

Yet there are several threads where you have not engaged you brain before typing.

I would therefore site you as a prime example of one who projects different personas through these forums.

Spam is bait for rudeness.

I think rudeness is like ping pong, basketball or even chess. A form of competitiveness. Without as much exertion. I personally feel that you should be polite while being rude. For instance if someone insults you in some way. you should walk up to them and say excuse me before you pass wind in their general direction. I always like to say things like I am sorry to inform you that you are a %$@#$#*^$* (four letter word). Then pound their nose before they make me angry a second time and they have to get it in the eye too. That way I don't need to apologise later. I sort of gave a pre apology for being so rude. 😀

written english is perhaps as accurate in describing intentioned meaning as a unaccompanied untuned ukulele is at renditioning a full Mozart symphony. add to this other distortions in the cognitive channel, eg. non native speakers learning english from different dialects and misinterpretation is absolutely assured.

What do you expect? Look around. These forums are flooded with Geeks.
It is full of the socially retarded, socially awkward, or socially ostracized (probably all).
I think anyone who acts normal here should be hung from the gibbet.

No offence if this applies to you.

I did not say that all of humanity are A holes. I said they will get away with what they can, which is a selfish behavior.

There are many things that temper that behavior, which will differentiate the A holes from those who are not. hence my statement "Some are worse in one or both than others, but each person has a level to which they will go, however little it may be."
Fair enough, I didn't make my point well last night due to a blinding migraine (which I still have, but I'll try anyway)

Civilised humans are inherently selfish, indigen humans aren't.

I don't believe you'd see much selfish behaviour if you went to live with a tribe in the jungle for a while. They know they wouldn't survive if they didn't work together. On the other hand, civilisation breeds selfishness due.

My point is that humanity isn't inherently selfish, civilised humanity is. Can I recommend "My Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn, who can articulate a point much better than I can at the moment.

Disagree. Political struggles exist at every level, demanding societal construct and compliance, regardless the degree of sophistication.

On a side note - I hope that migraine (a pain with which I am most familiar) does not continue until your match. That would suck!

Again, that indigen human is selfish to the point that they can get away with. They know that if the tribe is not strong, they are not strong, so their selfish behavior is shaped by that reality. Were they truly not selfish, there would be no true tribes and the would not fight over food and other resources. They would all unite and live in a large, safe well protected community where food, shelter and other needs for survival were shared equally with all. The reality is that there are separate tribes, who do fight and swabble over all shared resources that are available.

Ok, please, I realize I am not Bowman (a fact for which I will be forever grateful), but....

WTF is this word "indigen" you people are using?

I'm trying to follow this conversation, but this "word" keeps hitting me in the face as if I'd stepped on a rake. Kind of distracts from the points you're trying to make.

I believe the use that has been attributed to it, for this conversation is those humans of an "uncivilized" culture, other related terms for indigen(ous) peoples include aborigines, native peoples, first peoples, Fourth World. Those cultures reletively untouched by the modern world.
