Long conflict-free forum threads serve a purpose. They're the glue that holds the forum community. Exciting threads polarise the readers and posters, but they're not comfortable environments for many people.
If you need to be in a place where people are, do you choose a library, an A&E or a cafe? Depends why you need the human contact, no?
