Being fairly new to the site I was curious about what the recs (in my stats)and recomendations (in the forums) are,
where they come from,
and how they are received.
Would someone mind taking the time to explain this to me?
Thanks

It's still eating at you, isn't it: getting bested by a driveling, skeptical Christian? Take comfort, dear muleboogar, you are neither first, nor last. Nor shall you ever be alone.

I've garnered most of my recs putting out brushfires lit by Creationists in the Spirituality forum, and I've observed several others who have garnered nearly all of theirs extolling fundamentalist dogmas. I was stating the facts.
If you think I'm in error, a simple statistical analysis of the top ten pages found under the "recommended" link above should suffice to reveal the truth.
I'll get you started:
On page one we find the following numbers per originating forum:
Chess 16
Spirituality 10, 6, 5
General 7, 5, 4, 4, 4
Debates 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4
Thus, on page one, Spirituality is running third. But it is worthy of note that half of the recs counted in General and Debates concern aspects of Islam, and the current U.S. Holy War against certain manifestations of militant Islam. Debates concerned with matters of religion clearly lead the list, and it is not even close.
A post of my own from Spirituality is currently fourth on the list.

"Muslims don't want peace. The only solution is to blow them back to their god."
It's depressing, really.
Originally posted by dottewellSound like pro-Xtian drivel to me, and it is often posted by some of the same folks that push Creationism in Spirtuality. You've strengthened my point by highlighting its nuances.

It is depressing, indeed.
Originally posted by dottewell"Muslims smell" is guaranteed of about 4-6 recs as well. Its horrendous to see that RHP has become home to large numbers of hate riddled racists. No wonder drumbo/dodger feels so at home here.

With respect to "fundamentalist dogmas" I have to admit that I am also at a loss. While there is 'one in every crowd,' as the saying goes, I would say there is fundamentalist dogma on both sides of the aisle, evidenced by the posts, at least.
I don't doubt your numerical assessment; if the items discussed didn't pack some emotional value, there likely would be little debate.
