Yesterday my xbox 360 felt the need to show those dreaded three red rings, I left it off for a while and it managed to play for a bit later that evening and this morning. Now those red rings have returned and I don't think they'll go away again. I've looked it up and they mean that there is a general hardware failure.

Its a few years old and I imagine past its warrantly, I have no idea what to do.

Anyone have any ideas?
😕

I don't recall where it was bought from.
Besides, I was thinking more along the lines of sending it off somewhere to be repaired...

it's suffering from ringworm. try a heavy dose of x-rays and antiparasitic medication. and stop taking the xbox into bathtub.

Thanks, and it doesn't seem to be E74 error, its just not loading on my monitor at all, or speakers, just turns on with those red lights.

There is a 3 year warranty on this now.

I've had one repaired myself. And I don't believe even a proof of purchase was required, just the S/N off the back.

Thanks Russ, I've checked through the microsoft/xbox site, registered my device and figured out that my standard warrantly has expired (which it obviously would), if I'm honest I'm not sure whether it would be covered by the 3 year warrantly, I did get it quite a while ago, so if it is within the 3 years, it would certainly be close to the end of it.

Thanks, I'll be sure to follow this up with that.

I concur.

I have had 3 machines repaired once and 1 machine repaired twice (youth club machines).

It helps if you scream at them like a sodding idiot (I have lots of experience in this department), but you have to scream like you mean it, "I have a completely red ring and it is bloody irritating!!!!", they love a good chuckle when the nutters call.

You could always add to the end of your rant, "it was your sloppy performance and premature delivery, that has caused this irritating red ring".

Hope this helps.
