I want to register a domain name, but typing "Register Domain Name" into google gives a load of sites where I can do this, but can anyone recomend one, one that'll not take my credit card number and run!
And also, any recomendations for hosting?
EDIT: i think they are the organisation that all domains are registered through. although i can't remember-i did internet stuff at uni 2 and a half years ago and didn't do too well in the module...
EDIT2: actually, i don't think they register domains, but if you get a company that does and is a W3C member, such as www.uncoverthenet.com, then you should be fine...
EDIT3: i have decided that i actually know nothing about this and so am going to stop talking/typing/whatever.
If you have a particular name sorted don't query whether it's taken until you are ready to register. If you do there are people out there scanning the checks and grabbing the queried names. They then try to sell the name to you. Usually a couple of weeks later the name is released again but it is inconvenient.
