Yup. Seems like just the other day that I got up and turned on the tv to see a giant whole in a building and watching smoke flow out. I was only 11 then so I didn't know what was going on exactly, or it didn't effect me as much as it would now. Amazing what's happened since then. 2 wars, 2 horrible natural disasters (at least), and family guy was cancelled and brought back.
11th also happens to be my parent's anniversary. Happy anniversary mom and dad!

I just can't believe that it has been four years. So much has happened since then, but yet so little has changed.

The 11th of september 1973, when General Pinochet headed the military coup in Chili which resulted in thousands of dead.
Pinochet...backed by the US and Britain...as usual, one might add.
Is it, or is it not true that you can judge one's character by the friends one hang's around?

Getting back to the origional post and rememberance day (not the football you immature pricks, have a bit of respect for lost on this day) The wife and I were on holiday at the time. We were passing a bar with the news on a big screen, we only glanced in for literally a second, thought the local were watching a film. Got talking later to a few elderly couples and they asked if we saw the news. It then all fell into place.
Condolenses still and will always go out to the families and friends who lost love ones on this day.
Originally posted by shavixmirIf you would read the article you reference, you would find the director of the documentary stating that the US was not materially involved in the coup and did not really even know who Gen. Pinochet was. Oh, and the country is Chile (not Chili).

There was certainly US involvement in the coup in Chile, but it's been vastly over-stated - the US knew the coup was coming and deliberately refrained from alerting Allende, and it paid opposition groups money that found its way to the army, but ultimately it seems to have been relatively circumspect, other than a few years previously when it cooperated in a very crude and ill-thought-out assassination attempt on the President. The real scandals in US foreign policy came further north.
