Another interesting question is how well chess-playing ability correlates with IQ.

I imagine there is some correlation. However, I have noticed that some of the more intelligent forum contributers are amateurs whereas some (but fewer) of the less intelligent contributers are experts.

Yeah, no correlation. My IQ is 155. I'm a cr@ppy chess player. But I can earn a living playing backgammon...
