Yes, there was a full stop, but I thought you would answer my question, and the only answer provided was the Orwell one.

Cheerleading does sound kind of bad. It's not my worst fear, but maybe there are some people who can't think of anything worse (cheerleadophobes? ). So they could have a cheerleading class in room 101.
I'm not scared of cheerleaders and it wouldn't phase me to watch cheerleader 101 though a bit dated and sexist.
If I were in the cheerleader squad in fishnets and black latex with shrunken head pom poms that would be Orwellian room 101 for sure.. ugh sic thought. ew.

Right, I'm having serious problems with Webshots. For some reason it keeps putting the feckin photos in the wrong order. My head is wrecked from it.

Would people really not like it if I placed all the pics into a zip file for download? Then you could browse them on your pc using acdsee or picasa or something similar?

Any other suggestions?

I wouldn't have a problem with a zip-file. In fact, I would prefer it, because Webshots is often very slow, and it's quite annoying to wait for the pictures all the time, plus there is the loss of quality. But somehow I suspect that some people who would look at the pictures if they were at Webshots won't download a zip file. Using my webspace would be a solution if I had started looking into it, which I haven't. What about putting up a zip file, and I'll see what I can do and hopefully put them up on my site in a few days time, so that people can choose whether they want to download the zip file or wait until I have put them up?

I wouldn't mind a zip file too, but I have broadband. I'd try to minimize the filesize of the pictures if you're putting them in a zipfile. I find 100kb can get you pretty good quality for a 600*400pixel picture.

Best regards,

David

Keeping the file size down is generally a good idea, not only if putting the pictures in a zip file. IMO this shouldn't be Ragnorak's job, but something people do before sending in their pictures. I don't think pictures should be more than 200 kB. The problem with Webshots is that an optimized file size will still get cut down, so people might send in bigger files in the hope to end up with a reasonable file size and not too much loss of quality. That's why I hope we won't have to use Webshots anymore.

Thanks for the effort, sorry to be so much trouble. Cheers Dan

No problem, it wasn't that much work. It's mostly in your own interest to send in pictures which have a reasonable size, because then you can be sure the pictures will look exactly like you wanted.

If I don't run into unexpected problems, I should be able to get everything ready this evening.

Thanks to the lovely Nordlys for taking over the running of the photo comp.

My fiance is trying to ween me off RHP, so basically, I haven't been here since last Monday for 1 whole month. 😛

I'll still be voting and taking part, but direct your complaints/suggestions to Nordlys from now on.

you haven't seen me right!

[EDIT] I've given (or will do in a few minutes) the gmail account to Nordlys so the submitting procedure won't change.
