@hakima saidGreat to hear!
I was apprehensive about entering after my initial enthusiasm about the prose challenge, but late last night I read something that sparked me in the direction I wish to go with this...now I’m 200 words in and I have not left my bed (where I do my best writing) except to refill my coffee mug.
Hurrah!!!
I was inspired suddenly by your 'escape' idea, so thanks for that.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidI would point out that penguins have been a source of inspiration for many writers over the years, and some classic works have been written about them. 'Far From the Madding Penguin', War and Penguins' and 'Penguin Farm' are three that immediately come to mind.
It is greatly frowned upon.
@indonesia-phil saidI feel a story coming on about a adventurous penguin's trip halfway around the world... his escape ending when eaten by a polar bear.
In that case; Can my story include references to penguins and other arctic animals?
Sorry if I took your idea folks...
1st entry is starting to formulate, and did I read we can do 3 this year?
@paul-a-roberts said3? I struggle to get one and sometimes I can’t even do that.😟

@great-big-stees saidYou will do fine once you get started.

@indonesia-phil saidIt was a big disappointment in my life when I learned that penguin paperbacks weren't about penguins at all. I shall seek out these classics of which you write.

@petewxyz saidI recommend them. Look out also for 'Wuthering Penguins', the Bronte classic. Poets also have been inspired, John Milton for example wrote 'Penguins Lost', and of course 'I wandered lonely as a penguin...' is the Wordsworth classic with which we are all familiar.

@indonesia-phil saidPingu is by far the best of course.

@indonesia-phil saidI remember pointing out the total lack of Penguin references in the books we did at O Level or at least making observations of that sort of nature. Seemingly there were no marks for most of these observation which seemed to steer my future away from literature before I had had a chance to realise there might be something more.

Edit: @Kegge I do remember studying Pingu.
@petewxyz saidDidn't a Mr. Popper have Penguins? 🤔

@torunn saidVery true.
You will do fine once you get started.
I find after the first 100 words the story starts to write itself and I can put my feet up and have a coffee.
