Is it true that the great man was sacked for a football joke, on a TV football phone-in show?
PC is destroying our once Great Britain.
True his joke was pretty insensitive in world terms but still funny (in football terms)
Rock on the Toon Army - stand by Craig Bellamy, Souness will soon move on

it was not in good taste, he did apologise immediately though (on air) and so you could argue the sacking was a bit harsh.

Any chance of a link to the story? For some reason, Sky are keeping quite on it.

He should have been sacked years ago just for being an arrogant plick.

I've always liked Rodney Marsh (and I'm a Bradford City fan!) more info on this would be appreciated. What did he say?

Amazing that someone could be fired for that joke.

It was pathetic though...

Well...no....the joke wasn't funny.

But you can't go around firing people just because they aren't funny.
I mean...where would it stop?

It'd only make sense to followers of UK footy.

Newcastle's fans are known as the 'toon army'. This is 'cos of their regional accent I think (town gets pronounced toon)

Does that help?

I would have been sacked many times.

Then and again, I have been sacked many times. Bugger.

I can't believe Rodders didn't try to blag it!

I mean, it's more likely to believe that Beckham would be worried about the Toon Army than that that was meant to be JOKE, lol.

Hmmmm, even though I laughed, heh heh. Mind you, it was the visual of Beckham saying it that caused THAT, 😛.

Bad taste jokes are normal aren't they? I seem to recall this being discussed in the news after Diana died. There was a plethora then, but the only issue was how long you had to wait to tell them. Rather sadly, the deluge of Di jokes seemed to swamp Mother Teresa ones. In fact, I only heard ONE, :0. I'm sure if she'd died at a different time she would have been held in higher esteem, and we would have had a lot more laughs.

The whole Diana thing nearly got me lynched. I only said I couldn't care less whether she was alive or dead. Boy, you should have seen the people turn on me.

I do still stand by what I said, I couldn't give a monkeys.
